Everyone will encounter grief and loss within their lifetime, yet our culture seems unsure of how to handle these experiences. Sometimes being faced with such a cataclysmic event leads people to their first significant need for therapy. With religion and spirituality shifting in the U.S., many people are left with less community, ritual, and meaning during these experiences. Within sessions, I create a safe, non-judgemental space to help clients process the difficult and confusing emotions related to grief and loss. I use patience and time, as well as helpful interventions such as art or journaling to encourage the processing of these emotions and finding a βnew normal.β
